TO THIS POINT Mountain West champions How They Got Here: All that was missing was Rick Majerus jumping (yes, jumping) for joy. In a season that saw longtime Utah coach Majerus step down because of health reasons in late January, Nick Jacobson's buzzer-beating 3-pointer in the MWC title game brought back memories of Keith Van Horn's heroics. Utah likely would have missed the NCAAs, but did beat BYU in the semifinals before ending UNLV's dreams of dancing. The Utes also have a win over Utah State, but lost to both Texas Tech and UConn in the Preseason NIT and at LSU.
PLAYER TO WATCH Nick Jacobson | G | Senior
He hit the shot to beat UNLV and get Utah to the NCAAs, but Jacobson has been a solid performer for four years. The son of a coach, his intelligence shows on the court as does his fundamentally sound jumper, which he has gone from only taking as a spot-up shooter to a player who can score off the dribble as well.
