St. Louis (3-1) at Green Bay (1-3)
| SCOUTING REPORT |
Reeling Packers face surging RamsA matchup of two great quarterbacks with St. Louis' Marc Bulger and Green Bay's Brett Favre. Favre is at a crossroad in his career and has been under heavy fire this year with poor performances that have him and the Packers at 1-3. Bulger enters the game without any interceptions through four games and is showing no ill effects from offseason shoulder surgery. The Rams defense has a plus-seven turnover ratio and has shown a new aggressive attitude with much more speed and athletic ability at the defensive back and linebacker positions. Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy badly needs a win to generate some sense of hope and promise for a team struggling to gain its identity. |

St. Louis (3-1) at Green Bay (1-3) Sunday 1:00 pm EDT
GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Brett Favre would like to
give himself an early birthday present Sunday when the Green
Bay Packers host the St. Louis Rams.
Favre, who turns 37 years old two days after this contest, is
expected to make his NFL-record 226th consecutive start. The
future Hall of Fame quarterback left last Monday's game at
Philadelphia in the fourth quarter with a head injury and
stinger.
In the 31-9 loss against Philadelphia, Favre completed just
22-of-44 passes for 205 yards and two interceptions. He had
thrown for 680 yards and six scores in his previous two
contests.
Favre was without running back Ahman Green against the Eagles
due to a hamstring injury. Vernand Morency started in Green's
place and rushed for 99 yards on 26 carries.
Against the Eagles, the Packers continued to struggle
defensively as they allowed 398 total yards. They rank 31st
overall, giving up 390.8 yards per game.
The Packers should receive a stern test from the Rams, who
enjoyed their best offensive game of the season in last Sunday's
41-34 victory over Detroit.
Marc Bulger completed 26-of-42 passes for 328 yards and three
touchdowns against the Lions. Torry Holt had six catches for
102 yards and a touchdown and Isaac Bruce had seven for 100 and
a score.
Now Holt and Bruce go up against a Green Bay pass defense ranked
31st in the league.
Both teams feature first-year coaches in Scott Linehan of the
Rams and Mike McCarthy of the Packers.
