Washington (2-4) at Indianapolis (5-0)
| SCOUTING REPORT |
Redskins face must-winThe Colts are one of only two undefeated teams in the NFL and have one of the most explosive offensives in the league. The Colts are led by quarterback Peyton Manning, who is always entertaining to watch with the group of receivers he has to work with.
Manning and company are coming off a bye and should be fresh to host the Redskins, who are on a roller coaster ride this season. This could be the week the Redskins decide to show up and play well. This is a must-win for the Redskins, as the try to keep pace with the other teams in the NFC East. |

Washington (2-4) at Indianapolis (5-0) Sunday 4:15 pm EDT
INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Indianapolis Colts probably will
see a steady dose of Clinton Portis on Sunday when they meet
the Washington Redskins in an interconference matchup.
Despite being one of two unbeaten teams along with Chicago
(6-0), Indianapolis ranks last in the league against the run,
allowing 166.8 yards per game.
The Colts took a step toward improving against the run prior
to Tuesday's trade deadline, acquiring defensive tackle
Anthony McFarland from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a
second-round pick in 2007.
A 1999 first-round pick, McFarland had 13 tackles in five games
with the Buccaneers this season. In 2005, he had 41 tackles,
two sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Even with McFarland's presence, the Colts are certain to see
plenty of the Redskins' power running game led by Portis, who
has rushed for 371 yards and six touchdowns in five games.
Portis rushed for a franchise-record 1,516 yards and 11 scores
last season.
Indianapolis also will be hoping that its bye week helped
rectify some of its defensive problems. Two weeks ago, the
Colts surrendered 214 yards rushing but escaped with a 14-13
victory over Tennessee.
The Colts still are led by six-time Pro Bowl quarterback Peyton
Manning, who has thrown for 1,278 yards and eight touchdowns
with two interceptions.
Last season, the Colts enjoyed a 13-0 start before enduring
their first loss.
After winning a playoff game for the first time since 1999 last
season, the Redskins find themselves in last place in the NFC
East.
The Redskins also have struggled defensively, ranking 22nd
overall. They have surrendered at least 25 points three times.
While the Colts escaped the Titans, the Redskins were unable to
avoid the upset in last Sunday's 25-22 home loss. Portis rushed
for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
